Martin Van Buren Middle School

Martin Van Buren Middle School was opened in 1962 on North 22nd Street in Tampa, Florida. It is located near Busch Gardens and is named in honor of President Martin Van Buren. There are around 825 students on roll in grades 6-8.[1] The school is rated 'B' on the State of Florida A+ Plan.[2]

The school hit the news in February 2007 when its Principal, Anthony Giancola, was arrested for attempting to buy crack cocaine in his school office.[3][4][5] The case has still to come to trial.
