Gopal Sharma was a popular radio announcer on the Hindi Service of Radio Ceylon, the oldest radio station in South Asia. Sharma presented radio programs containing the latest Hindi film music - he was popular with the masses in India. Sharma belonged to a select band of Indian announcers recruited by Radio Ceylon who played a vital role in catapulting the station as the 'King of Airwaves' in South Asia.

Millions of listeners in the Indian sub-continent tuned in to Gopal Sharma's radio programs over Radio Ceylon in the 1950s and 1960s.
