Dr. George Bornoff (1907-1998) Violinist and string teacher, born in
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada , taught atColumbia University ,New York from 1945 to 1953, becameProfessor ofMusic Education atBoston University in 1953, spending the rest of his days based in the Boston area. Dr. Bornoff developed the method of string teaching bearing his name, the Bornoff Method.In particular, he emphasized an early focus on five patterns of half- and whole-steps formed by the fingers of the left hand.
