Shaker (formed in Kitchener, Ontario in 2002) are a rising Canadian rock/pop group, known for their commercially viable modern rock music, featuring lush vocal harmonies with a southern rock-influenced foundation.

History

Early days

Shaker formed as the result of a new year's resolution agreed upon by singer/guitarist Daniel Brooks and guitarist Stephane Labine. The two had been friends since Grade 10, and had practiced music together, but there had not been a solid commitment to form a band prior to 2001. The two shared a common interest in the British rock band Oasis.

Brooks later met bassist John David Dolinar at work, and he too shared an interest in rock music, coincidently of Oasis. Dolinar would later join the band, followed by his brother, Tommy Dolinar on drums. The group would perform locally with the name In Between Names.

The newly formed group would release a self-titled EP in 2004, as Shaker.

In March of 2005, in the midst of the band questioning its future, percussionist Robbie Butcher was introduced as the band's new drummer.

Throw Your Good Side On, 2006

Shaker's first full-length album is currently in production. It was recorded in the fall of 2005 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
