Garden East

Garden East is in Jamshed Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Jamshed Town is one of 18 towns of the city. [http://www.karachicity.gov.pk/town/index.asp?txtTown=Jamshed Jamshed Town - Government of Karachi] ]

There are several ethnic groups in Jamshed Town including Urdu speakers, Punjabis, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochs, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, Christians and Parsis. The population of Jamshed Town is estimated to be nearly one million. Although the neighbourhood was mostly a working class neighbourhood, because of gentrification, some areas are now attract an influx of upper middle class families.

The area has a large presence of Ismailis due to their Jama'at Khana (or prayer hall) being located there. The community has established good social institutions including hospital, maternity home, health care centre, day care centre, school, libraries, gymkhana and residential complexes.

The area was predominately residential but over.the last few year smaller commercial areas have grown to cater needs of residents. The neighbourhood has gone through serious gentrification, since the neighbourhood was previously an enclave for extremely high crime especially during the 1990s. Nowadays, in some areas, the prices of homes are very high. The most expensive of these are the 7-Star Lodges with the prices going more than 1.32 crore Pakistani Rupees. 10. 32 Million Rupees Pakistani.

The high rise houses near the jamat khana are usually expensive to reside in.

Many restaurants can be found in the Big Bite area of the neighbourhood.
