Lincoln Northeast High School is a public secondary school located in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. It is part of the Lincoln Public Schools school district. Lincoln Northeast was founded on September 9, 1941 when three rival schools (Bethany, Havelock and Jackson) were combined into one. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and has been rated "AA" by the Nebraska State Department of Education since 1943. Approximately 70% of the staff hold master's degrees.Lincoln Northeast's 1,600 students operate on a traditional 7-period day schedule. Their school colors are traditionally black and white (and sometimes purple, although less commonly used) and their mascot is the Rocket (Named for a locally famous train in the area).

Athletics

Lincoln Northeast is primarily known as a "basketball school", but they have also excelled at football. The boys basketball program is notable for its four-peat state championship teams from 1995 to 1998. The boys basketball program has 12 total state titles, and 7 state runners-up. The girls basketball team won their first state title in 2005, and were runners-up in 1982 and 2006. In 2006, the football team reached the state quarterfinals with their only losses coming to eventual state champions Kearney (6-7 in the first meeting, and 22-0 in the second meeting) and to the number 3 team in the state, Lincoln Southwest (44-17). In the same school year (1961-62), Lincoln Northeast won Nebraska state championships in football, basketball, and gymnastics; the latter two on the same day.
