Climate Outreach and Information Network

The Climate Outreach and Information Network (COIN) is a British charity that works with the general public to provide information about climate change and how to deal with it. Based in Oxford, it was registered as a charity in March 2008[1], and since then has run a number of projects and talks on climate change. The organisation was founded by George Marshall, who also runs the blog Climate Denial.[2]

COIN believes that providing raw information about climate change is a psychological 'turnoff', and that it is vital to provide the public with solutions that they can take in their own lives. Only by combining information with solutions can people be empowered to deal with the issue.[1].

It was among a number of organisations that shared in a £4.87m grant to promote sustainable living which was awarded in June 2009 by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.[3] The Bishop Hill blog reported that Climate Outreach and Information Network's share of this green grant was £700,000 over two years for a project with trade unionists, and this in turn attracted comment from James Delingpole in his Daily Telegraph blog [4]
