Valparaíso, Zacatecas

Valparaíso (pronounced IPA|), is a town in the north central Mexican state of Zacatecas. It is located at coord|22|46|0|N|103|34|0|W| on the interior plateau, 70 mi/113 km E of Zacatecas, at an elevation of 16,677 ft/5,083 m. . There were approximately 11,000 inhabitants in the town proper as of 2006. The municipality as a whole has approximately 29,000 inhabitants. Like many towns and cities in Zacatecas, a great majority of its citizens live and work elsewhere, many in the United States.

Valparaíso is an agricultural center for corn, wheat, chickpeas, alfalfa, chilies and beef, pork, sheep, and goat.
