Scott Darwin Player (born December 17, 1969 in St. Augustine, Florida) is an American football punter who is currently a free agent. He was signed by the Birmingham Barracudas as a street free agent in 1995. He played college football at Florida State.

Player has also been a member of the New York Giants, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots. He was a Pro Bowl alternate with the Cardinals in 1999 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2000.

Professional career

He has played ten years in the NFL, nine of which were with the Cardinals and a portion of one with the Cleveland Browns, He also played in the Canadian Football League and in NFL Europa with the Frankfurt Galaxy. Player is currently the only player wearing a 1-bar facemask, which was restricted by NFL in 2004. His facemask is covered under a Grandfather Clause. Being the only recent player to wear a 1-bar facemask has led to the nickname, Punty McOnebar.

Arizona Cardinals

Player played for the Cardinals between 1998 and 2006, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2000. The Cardinals released him on August 29, 2007.

Cleveland Browns

On September 18, 2007 Player was signed by the Cleveland Browns after Dave Zastudil was injured. On October 8, 2007 the Browns released him. [ [http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/article.php?id=7502 Cleveland Browns Release Scott Player] ]

New England Patriots

On April 18, 2008 Player was signed by the New England Patriots to compete with incumbent Chris Hanson. However, he was released on June 12, 2008.
