Drum Hill Rotary

The Drum Hill Rotary was a traffic circle in the Drum Hill section of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. It formed the intersection of U.S. Route 3 (exit 32), Route 4, Drum Hill Road, and Old Westford Road.

The rotary was quite large, and of the overpass variety common in Massachusetts in the middle decades of the 20th century. Traffic from Route 3 passed underneath the rotary, interchanged with the other roads by on and offramps. The rotary handled a heavy volume of traffic and was the site of frequent minor accidents, cited as the reason for its demolition.

The rotary was demolished in 2003. It was replaced with a four intersection square with traffic lights, and is now called Drum Hill Square. This was part of a widening project for U.S. Highway 3 between Interstate 95 (Route 128) and the New Hampshire state line.
