Yarmouk University is a
university inJordan . It was established in1976 . Located in the northern town ofIrbid , it has a student body of roughly of over 25,000.The university has several international partnerships with overseas universities. Within the joint TEMPUS program, international students of
Brandenburg Technical University conduct researches in Yarmouk University as exchange students.Yarmouk University was founded in 1976 by a Royal Decree. YU is a government funded institution, but enjoys a considerable degree of autonomy. It is governed by a Board of Trustees to which members are appointed by a Royal Decree for specific terms.
Yarmouk University also has a subsidiary Private Secondary School on its Campus. The School is called Yarmouk University Model School (YUMS), though the school enjoys a level of autonomy from the University, admissions are restricted to the Children of the University staff and various other academics. The School has a dress code.
The current president of the university is Prof. Mohammad Abu Qudais.
