PCTE Group of Institutes

PCTE (Punjab College of Technical Education) was first institute established by Punjab Management Education Trust in 1999 at Ludhiana, Punjab with the motive of providing good management and IT education in the region. Since then, it has expanded to Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Airlines, Tourism, and Hotel Management. Now PCTE Group of Institutes has four colleges offering different courses in two campuses Near Baddowal Cantt on Ferozpur Road, Ludhiana with a current strength of more than 2700 students from more than 7 different countries pursuing full-time courses like BCA, BBA, B. Pharmacy, BSc. (ATHM), BSc. (Biotech), B. HMCT, MCA, MSc. IT, MBA, MBA-IB and PGDM. All the courses are affiliated with Punjab Technical University while PGDM is an AICTE approved, independent course.

PCTE has been constantly ranked the best B-School in Punjab, HP, J & K, and Rajasthan by various national magazines and journals, including Outlook, Business India, AIMA, MINT etc. for last 7 years and has been conferred with different awards of National and International repute.

Limca Book of Records

PCTE has been listed in Limca Book of Records 2005 for being the only B school for undertaking a very practical exercise to enrich students with the hand-on knowledge about the intricacies of Indian stock market, its operations and dynamics.

The students actually pool in funds and invest in the market for learning. A portfolio of scrips is being planned and managed by the students every year, who are themselves responsible for all decisions regarding the buying and selling of scrips. They manage all financial activities related to bank account, financial decisions and D-mat account.

International conferences

Since 2004, PCTE has organized seven International Conferences in which scholars and researchers from various countries like Pakistan, Srilanka, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, UK, Iran and Tunisia have presented their research papers in Business Management and IT. The objective of these conferences has been to provide a single platform to the industry and academicians to share and discuss trends and technologies for the development of manpower, as per industry requirements. These conferences have received very good response from scholars across the globe and industry.

International links

PCTE Group of Institutes has signed nine MOUs with England, South Africa, and Pakistan. Seven faculty members teaching in a university in Mozambique joined PCTE for the academic session 2010-2011. PCTE has a number of agreements with foreign universities. Some are meant to facilitate research and faculty/scholar exchange, while others include student exchange as part of a wider MoU. It has currently 56 students and research scholars from Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Ghana and Afghanistan along with a research scholar from Cameroon.

Publications

PCTE has been publishing two bi-annual international Journals titled as “PCTE Journal of Business Management” and “PCTE Journal of Computer Sciences” covering the various articles, researches and reviews on management issues and in computer Sciences respectively.

PCTE Editorial team is also editing quarterly Journal titled, “M-World” on the behalf of Ludhiana Management Association, most prominent industrial body of the region, addressing various management issues.

Student activities

The student community at PCTE has been very active. Since the inception of the college in 1999, PCTEians have won 13 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 9 bronze medals for their academic performance in university exams. Besides that around 90 students have made it to the university merit lists in past decade.

Koshish is an intra-class Cultural and Literary Extravaganza, held in the month of September–October every year, in line with developing the confidence and providing exposure to the students. Classes compete among themselves in varied events to lift the overall trophy. This year as many as 1,700 students of PCTE participated and show cased their talent and abilities in 25 different cultural and literary events like British parliamentary debate, solo dance, short skit, western group dance, dumb charades, turn coat, fashion show, face painting and a lot more.

Ehsaas is PCTE’s international, inter-institutional cultural-cum-literary festival. Since year 2000, it has been organized multiple times both in India and in Pakistan. In Ehsaas, 2006 four teams from Pakistan i.e. NCBA & E-Lahore, FAST-Peshawar, IQRA-Islamabad, SZABIST-Islamabad and 25 professional institutes from various parts of India, participated with 700 students and around 6000 visitors attended the show.

Besides these, PCTEians have won many awards at various events held nationwide.
