Ostaszewo [ɔstaˈʂɛvɔ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Sońsk, within Ciechanów County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland, about 100 kilometres (62 mi) north of Warsaw.[1] The village has a population of 77. It is composed of five parts: Ostaszewo Wielkie, Ostaszewo Panki, Ostaszewo Wloski, Ostaszewo Wola Rancza and Ostaszewo Czernie.

History

In feudal Poland lands surrounding Ostaszewo belonged to the Ostoja-Ostaszewski family whose main branch resided in Ostaszewo Wielkie (in Medieval Latin: Ostaszewo Magna).

According to historical records in the AGAD Archives in Warsaw, the following representatives of the Ostoja-Ostaszewski family were the owners of Ostaszewo Wielkie in 15th-18th centuries:

  1. Scibor (Stibor) of Ostaszewo - his name appears in local registers of 1446
  2. Pawel of Ostaszewo - his name appears in local registers of 1474
  3. Scibor Ostaszewski, son of Pawel of Ostaszewo - his name appears in local registers of 1512
  4. Pawel Ostaszewski, son of Scibor Ostaszewski, married to Anna Golocka - his name appears in local registers in 1552
  5. Adam Ostaszewski, son of Pawel Ostaszewski and Anna Golocka, married in 1604 to Eufemia Karniewska
  6. Franciszek Ostaszewski, son of Adam Ostaszewski and Eufemia Karniewska, in 1658 Treasurer of the Ciechanów District, married to Helena Mlocka
  7. Wojciech Ostaszewski, elder son of Franciszek Ostaszewski and Helena Mlocka, in 1681 Treasurer of the Ciechanów District, married to Katarzyna Brodzka
  8. Jacek Ostaszewski, younger son of Franciszek Ostaszewski and Helena Mlocka, married in 1681 to Magdalena Kuklinska
  9. Felicjan Ostaszewski, son of Wojciech Ostaszewski and Katarzyna Brodzka, in 1767 Treasurer of the Braclaw District
  10. Antoni Ostaszewski, born in 1696, died in 1775, son of Jacek Ostaszewski and Magdalena Kuklinska, in 1755 Treasurer of the Nur District, married to Barbara Dunin Mieczynska
  11. Franciszek Ostaszewski, son of Antoni Ostaszewski and Barbara Dunin Mieczynska, married to Magdalena Luboradzka
  12. In 1771 Franciszek Ostaszewski sold the lands of Ostaszewo Wielkie to Antoni Zielinski, Steward of the Zawkrze District.
