Oselvar (Norwegian: Olesvarfeltet) is an offshore oil field located 250 km (160 mi) southwest of Stavanger in the southern Norwegian section of North Sea, close to the English border.[1] Oselvar was discovered in 1991.[2] The field is also at 23 kilometres (14 mi) distance from Ula field to which it will be tied via subsea pipeline.[3] Estimated reserves at Oselvar stand at 38 million barrels of oil[4] and 141 billion cubic feet (4.0×10^9 m3) of natural gas.[5] The water depth at location is 72 metres (236 ft).

Ownership

Dong Energy is the operator of the field with 40% of interest in the project. Production License 274 which covers the area of the field was given to the company in 2002.[5] Other partners are Bayerngas Produksjon Norge (30%), Wintershall Norge ASA (15%), Norwegian Energy Company ASA (Noreco) (15%). The total development cost is NOK 4.7 billion [3] In March 2009, Dong Energy expressed its willingness to buy Watershall's full share of 15%.[6][7]

Production

Oselvar will be developed with three production wells. Produced oil and gas will be transported to Ula field platform for processing. Once processed, the oil will be pumped via Norpipe system to Teesside, UK.[3] The production is expected to start in November 2011.[1]
