Olive Colobus range

The olive colobus or Van Beneden's colobus (Procolobus verus) is a species of primate in the Cercopithecidae family. It is found in tropical West Africa, ranging from Sierra Leone to Nigeria.[2] Its natural habitats are second growth within tall forests, palm forests and swamps.[2] It remains common in many parts of its range and can survive in degraded forest fragments, but is probably declining due to habitat loss and hunting.[2] This relatively small and secretive species is mainly folivorous, although it also takes fruits and seeds when available.[2] Its English name refers to its dull olive upperparts.[3]

The olive colobus is one of the species in the genus Procolobus, although some authors place all other species of this genus (the red colobi) in Piliocolobus instead.[1]
