Takashi ItoNirgilis (ニルギリス Nirugirisu ) is a Japanese electronic rock band formed in 1993 by Moyo Satake and Takeshi Ito. Acchu Iwata, Minoru Kurihara, and Yuki Inadera joined in 1995. Satake and Ito left the group in 2004 and 2007, respectively, leaving the group without its founders.
The group is represented by DefSTAR Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

History
Formation (1993 - 2001)
Nirgilis was founded in 1993 by Moyo Satake and Takeshi Ito who were students of Kinki University at the time. By 2002, Acchu Iwata, Minoru Kurihara, and Yuki Inadera have [1] joined.
Debut (2001 - 2003)
On December 10, 2002, the group released their first single "Soprano". In 2003, two more singles "Thunder" and "Odoremi/secret" on February 6 and March 23, respectively. The group's first album, titled Tennis, was released on April 30 the same year. The "Schneider at midnight" single was released on September 18, making it the last release of the year.
Satake's departure (2004)
In 2004, The "KING / ice skating for life / LEMON" single, the first release of the year, was released on January 28. It was followed by the new standard album on May 26 and the "Odoremi HERBEST MOON Remix e.p." single on July 23.
Moyo Satake left in December of the same year.
DefSTAR Records (2005 - 2006)
In June 2005, the band signed to the DefStar Records label.
The "Mairebo" single, released on October 20, was the only release during 2005.
On January 29, 2006, the episodes of the anime series Eureka Seven began to use "sakura" as an opening theme. The theme was later released as the "sakura" single on March 1, 2006.[2]
In 2006, Nirgilis performed during the Sony Music Festival at the Yoyogi Station in Tokyo on May 6 and 7 and at Osaka's Osakajo Hall on June 10 and 11.[3]
The group was featured on the ZIP-FM radio station on August 5, 2006.[4]
The D.Gray-man anime series began airing on October 3, 2006 with "SNOW KISS" appearing as the first ending theme.[5][6] The "24 Searchlights" single was released on June 14 and was closely followed by the BOY album, released on the 28. "SNOW KISS" was released as a single on November 22, 2006.
Ito's departure (2007)
On February 21, the band released GIRL, the only album released during 2007. The album was followed by the "Update" single on March 14.
In September 2007, Takeshi Ito withdraws from the band.
On November 21, the "Brand New Day" single becomes the group's first release without either of its founding members.
As a trio (2008 - present)
In 2008, the band traveled to the United States to perform at the Anime Matsuri convention in Houston, Texas, which ran from March 21 to 23.[7] Coinciding with the covention's opening day, the ChkChkChk album was released on March 21.
"kiseki" appeared as the first opening theme of the Birdy the Mighty Decode:02 anime series, which began its run on December 31, 2008. The theme was released as a single on March 4, 2009 and was followed by the release of the album "RGB" on April 8, 2009.[8]
