Career

Puhakka began his martial arts training at five years old when he took up Judo. He began training in mixed martial arts in 2001 after watching the Ultimate Fighting Championship.[2]

His first professional fight came in April 2002, and he went on to win his first eight fights, mostly as a middleweight or welterweight, over the course of two years. His first loss came at the hands of Gegard Mousasi in September 2004 when he was submitted. He also lost his following three fights after this. After almost two years without a professional fight, he returned to the ring in February 2007 to compete in the lightweight division which seemed to suit his 5 ft 8 in (1.73 m) frame better as he soon returned to the winning category.

In 2008, he joined M-1 Global to represent Team Finland in the 2008-09 M-1 Challenge Season, and held a record of four wins and two losses in the competition. Following this, he returned to Finland to fight.

On September 18, 2010, he took part in KSW's Lightweight tournament in Łódź, Poland. He defeated Borys Mankowski in the qurter-finals, and in the semi-final, he beat Danny van Bergen. In the final, he will face Maciej Górski.[3]
