Early life

Adams was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to Kenneth Mark Adams and Janet Rose Wojtalik. He attended high school at Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Erie. His first professional theatrical job was at age 16. After high school he spent a summer in Chicago training at Gus Giordano Jazz Dance.[citation needed] In 2006 he earned a BFA in musical theatre with a minor in dance from the Boston Conservatory of Music.[citation needed] He is openly gay.[2]

"My mom took me to a show in my hometown at a community theater when I was nine and I specifically remember just feeling so alive, on the edge of my seat," he told Micah Jesse in an interview, adding, "I never had another option or another desire to do anything."[3]

Career

In New York Adams joined the international tour of the musical Chicago, later joining the Broadway cast. He was also in the original Broadway cast of The Pirate Queen. In 2007 he co-starred in a Broadway revival of A Chorus Line.[4] In June 2009 he was in the Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls.

In 2010, Adams played one of the "Cagelles" in the La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre. It starred Kelsey Grammer of "Frasier" television fame.[citation needed]

Adams appears as one of the leading roles (Adam/Felicia) in the current Broadway production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,[5] which opened at the Palace Theater on March 20, 2011[6][7] after a short run in Toronto at the Princess of Wales Theatre.[8]

Adams has appeared on US television productions of As The World Turns, Guiding Light, Dancing with the Stars, The View, The Today Show and The Early Show.[citation needed]

He has modeled men's underwear for 2(x)ist.[4]
