2009 New Year Honours

The New Year Honours 2009 principally for the United Kingdom as well as the Commonwealth Realms were announced on 31 December 2008,[1] to celebrate the year passed and mark the beginning of 2009.

The recipients of honours are displayed here as they were styled before their new honour, and arranged by the country whose ministers advised HM The Queen on the appointments, then by honour, with grades i.e. Knight/Dame Grand Cross, Knight/Dame Commander etc. and then divisions i.e. Civil, Diplomatic and Military as and where appropriate.
