The awards are presented in various areas of excellence, such as popular programming (including music programmes, news and entertainment programmes, sports, travel, lifestyle and fashion, etc.), best television channel in a particular category (news, sports, entertainment, etc.), technical awards, only to the New Talent that has debuted in that Year.
The awards are managed by 'Tellychakker.com', an Indian television news company, whose founder came up with the concept of the awards.[1] They are held on the annually every year.

The New Talent Awards were started in 2008 and were telecasted on Sahara One.
Later, from 2009 they were telecasted on Colors TV
Jury
The jury for the Indian Telly Awards comprises eminent personalities from the Television industry. There are separate juries for different categories, with members of the jury being distinguished persons from the respective professional categories.
