Personal life
Mike Krause is the son of a Polish national who fought with the British Army during World War 2 and was demoblized to Scotland at the end of the war. Mike was born and brought up in Glasgow, Scotland. At an early age he developed a keen interest in martial arts along with his brother Steve Krause. Mike was an undefeated European champion and a member of the elite team and demonstration team which followed Master Rhee Ki Ha around Europe. After achieving great success in Taekwondo Mike travelled to the United States where he became a student of Dan Inosanto in The Art and Philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, Filipino martial arts, Shoot wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Silat, mixed martial arts and other arts at his Marina del Rey, California school, the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. Mike was, for many years, a licensed instructor of the Inosanto Academy.[1] Among his notable students is Scottish actor Billy Boyd (actor).
Career
Mike became a martial arts instructor with his brother Steve Krause and in the late 1970s they opened The Krauseworld International Martial Arts Academy, the first international martial arts academy in Scotland at that time. Having appeared extensively in local and UK media,[2] Mike and his brother came to the attention of acclaimed Scot's Writer and film-maker Richard Jobson (television presenter) and subsequently hired as martial arts consultant's and given a part in his kung-fu flick The Purifiers.[3]
