Michael Garry Hogan (born 31 May 1981) is an Australian cricketer, currently playing for the Western Warriors and the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League

Early career

Hogan was born in Newcastle, New South Wales.[1] He made his debut for Newcastle Grade Cricket side Merewether in 2003 at the age of 23, playing two seasons with the club before moving to Sydney to play for Northern District in the Sydney Grade Cricket competition during the 2005–06 season.[2] The following season he returned to Newcastle, representing New South Wales Country in the 2006–07 National Country Cricket Championships,[3] taking 19 wickets in five matches at average of 15.95, with a best of 6/80 against Western Australia Country.[4]

For the 2008–09 season he again played grade cricket in Sydney, also playing two matches for the New South Wales Second XI,[3] taking six wickets at an average of 17.00, with a best of 3/30 against South Australia.[5]

Western Australia career

2009–10 season

Hogan was recruited to the Western Warriors for the 2009–10 season by coach at the time Tom Moody.[6] He made his List A for the Warriors against Queensland in the first game of the 2009–10 season, taking 1/31 off 10 overs.[7] He played eight List A matches for the season, taking six wickets at an average of 51.83 with a best of 2/32.[8] He was more successful in the Sheffield Shield, playing seven matches and taking 23 wickets at an average of 30.91, with a best of 5/83 against South Australia.[9] He also played three Twenty20 matches, taking two wickets.[10]

2010–11 season

Hogan became Western Australia's leading fast bowlers for the 2010–11 season after Ben Edmondson moved states, Brett Dorey and Steve Magoffin were injured and Ashley Noffke announced his retirement. He played ten Sheffield Shield matches, taking 31 wickets at an average of 33.96, including a haul of 6/70 against Tasmania.[11]

He also 15 List A wickets in nine matches, including a haul of 5/44 against Victoria, and four Twenty20 wickets, all of which also came against Victoria. He was awarded the Lawrie Sawle Medal for the most outstanding Western Australia at domestic level at the end of the season.[12]

2011–12 season

Hogan signed for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League for the 2011–12 season.[13]
