The mean time between coincidences (MTBC) is used in safety engineering and is defined as the reciprocal of the average frequency of dangerous coincidences:

MTBC=\frac{1}{\lambda\ _{d}} = \frac{2}{\lambda\ \mu\ \tau\ }
