Gold (biscuit)

Gold (biscuit)

Gold is a caramel covered biscuit bar snack food, made in the United Kingdom by McVities, a division of United Biscuits.

Designed to look like a gold bar, the 3 inches (7.6 cm) in length biscuit comes in a gold-coloured plastic wrapper. Large case letters made up the word ‘GOLD’ on the top-side, to give the bar the appearance of a solid gold bar.

The bar itself is typical flat-topped pyramid shape of a gold-bar, where the rectangular base is wider than the top; the sides are all trapezoidal. The bar is made up of a thin crunchy biscuit, covered with a caramel similar to that used in the Caramac confectionery bar, using sweetened condensed milk, butter and various artificial flavourings, as well as sugar, and (in the Gold bar) containing crisped rice.

The biscuit is most often sold in a pack of nine bars.
