Max de Esteban

Max de Esteban is a fine-art photographer and has received several international prizes. He is being represented in the US by Klompching Gallery in New York and Charles Guice Contemporary in San Francisco. Max was born in Barcelona, Spain. Holds a Graduate degree from UPC, a Master from Stanford University and a PhD from URL. He was also a Fulbright Alumni.

His work is organized in two distinct bodies: Elegies of Manumission and Propositions. The four elegies produced until now raise social and political questions through symbolic portraiture. It is his best known body of work. Propositions deal with contemporary art issues through photography and video. Proposition One reflects upon art and technology by presenting obsolete objects used to create or communicate recent art.

His project "Vertige" was exhibited in Barcelona in April 2009[1][2] and his work was featured at the cover of La Fotografía magazine(Spain) in August 2009.[3]

In 2010, Max exhibited his installation "Don't Listen to Me" in Barcelona.[4]His work "Vertige" received the Fotofestiwal Jury's Special Prize and was exhibited in Lodz (Poland) in May 2010. "Private Utopias" was selected and exhibited at the FotoTageTrier 2010 Triennial.</ref>

In 2011 he exhibited Proposition One at Klompching Gallery in New York, was selected and exhibited at Photographers Network 2011 in Siegen (Germany), his work Elegies of Manumission was the cover of Profifoto Magazine (Germany) [5] and was featured and interviewed at Hotshoe Magazine (UK).[6] He was a finalist for the Best Portfolio Award in Encontros da Imagem 2011.

Max is the 2010 National Award of Professional Photography (Spain)- Gold LUX.[7]
