Maurice Mahon, 1st Baron Hartland

Maurice Mahon, 1st Baron Hartland

Maurice Mahon, 1st Baron Hartland (21 June 1738-4 January 1819), was an Irish politician and landowner.

Mahon was the son of Thomas Mahon and the Honourable Jane, daughter of Maurice Crosbie, 1st Baron Brandon.[1] He succeeded his father as one of two representatives for County Roscommon in the Irish Parliament in 1782, a seat he held until the following year.[2] In 1800 he was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Hartland, of Stroketown in the County of Roscommon,[3] as a reward for his support for the union.

Lord Hartland married the Honourable Catherine, daughter of Stephen Moore, 1st Viscount Mountcashell.[1] He died in January 1819, aged 80, and was succeeded in the barony by his son, Thomas.
