About the program

This program is intended as a part-time program, similar to an MBA program, for practitioners working with ICT. The program is very flexible, and the students can create their own program at their own pace, choosing from a number of courses given by the universities in the network. Professionals have found the flexible program very attractive. More than half of the students enroll the program without knowing whether they just want one course or they want the full program and a Master's diploma. They enroll because they find the courses interesting and relevant to their career and practice. The possibility of ending with a Master's diploma is important to the students, however most decide later whether or not they want to continue in the program and earn an MSc.

A complete Master's program consists of 60 ECTS – or the equivalent to one-year full-time study (one course is 15 ECTS) that has to be finished within 6 years. The Master's program is on the same educational level as the traditional Master's degree (such as the MSc) with a typical duration of 5 years. [1]

The general Master's program is offered by a collaboration of the Danish universities termed It-Vest, which currently include the following universities:

Specializations

The Master's program is divided into the following three specializations:

The courses

The courses are designed by the different universities, discussed in a forum across universities headed by it-vest and approved by the board of it-vest. The guiding principle is that a course should be relevant for practitioners and based on the latest research that meets rigorous academic standards. This is reflected in the faculty who are involved with it-vest. The courses are designed with a mixture of theory in form of theoretical readings and presentations and practice in the form of assignments and discussions that relates the theory to the real life experience of the participants. A typical course will conclude with a “research in practice” assignment, where the student analysis challenges from his own organization.
