Maria Eriksson (supercentenarian)

Maria Emilia Eriksson (27 March 1900 – 10 January 2011) in Sigtuna, Uppsala county was a Swedish supercentenarian and, since the death of Rut Mikaelsson on 24 August 2009, the country's oldest living person.[1][2]

Biography

Maria Eriksson lived her first years on a farm in Sigtuna. At age 32, she married Axel Eriksson. The couple never had any children and the husband died in 1970. Since 1992, Eriksson has lived in a retirement home in Grillby until her death in 2011.[3] She is the daughter of Karl Johan Karlsson (born 1874) and Karolina Emilia Johansson (born 1874).
