He plays Forward professionally for Argentinian side Peñarol Mar del Plata and is also a member of the Argentine national basketball team.[1]
Pro career
Mata currently plays with Liga Nacional de Básquetbol team Peñarol Mar del Plata. In his most recent season, 2009–10, he helped the team to its most successful campaign to date, as the squad won its first ever Argentine league title while also winning the 2009–10 Americas League.[2]

He made his debut with the senior Argentine national team at the 2008 South American Championship, helping the team to a gold medal. He later won a silver medal with the team at the 2010 South American Championship.[3]
In 2010, Mata was named to Argentina's 2010 FIBA World Championship squad – his first major international tournament – when long-time Andrés Nocioni withdrew from the squad.[4]
