Mealie bread

Mealie bread

Mealie bread or sweetcorn bread is a type of South African cuisine. It is sweetened bread baked with sweetcorn, traditionally buttered and eaten while still hot out of the oven. Mealie bread tends to use white maize, rather than the yellow maize used in sweetcorn bread, even though maize meal is less sweet.
