Mahatma K. Gandhi School, also known by its numbering in the Jersey City Public Schools as P.S. 23 was founded in 1919 and is one of the oldest buildings in Jersey City Public Schools[citation needed]. It is a school that accommodates students from a preschool level to the eighth grade.This school is also well advanced in extra-curricular activities.[1]

Scholatic Bowl - Ms. Caines/ Ms. Padilla. PS 23 advanced to the finals in the 2009-2010 season and earned the honourable title of 2nd place district-wide.
