Background
Songs from Around the World was Colter's first album of Children's music and first studio album in twelve years. Colter had previously been known as a country music artist, primarily popular in the 1970s and 80s. She focused her career towards her first Children's album in 1996. Colter starred in her own home video for the project, with a guest appearance from husband and country artist, Waylon Jennings, who recited some of his poetry for the first time.[1] The album consisted of twenty one tracks of children's music from different parts of the world, including Europe and Latin America. The album would later be re-released by the album's label in 2000, retitled as Around the World.
