Dr. A. V. Baliga College, Kumta is the oldest college in Uttar Kannada district affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwar and was called Kanara College. Dr. A. V. Baliga was largely instrumental in establishing the Kanara College of Arts and Science in Kumta town.
