Donald Lautrec

In 1957, he created, with one of his friends, a pair of acrobats on a trampoline, Don and Lee, which occurs in Canada and the United States. Subsequently, he meets show business occupying the lighting function, master of ceremonies in several Montreal cabarets and for a short period of time, the singer's bodyguard Michel Louvain. Then he met Yvan Dufresne, the impresario who discovered Louvain, and asks him to help launch his singing career.

Dufresne accepts and begins to commit to the Hotel Central Saint-Martin in Laval in 1961. The same year he made recording music a first 45-laps,Nobody in the world.

In recent years, Donald Lautrec became one of pop music stars in Quebec. In 1964, it popularized the ska, a dance inspired by Jamaican ska withItandManon,just dancing ska. In 1965 and 1966, it ensures its success withYou're talking nonsense,ActionandDeep in my campaign,he plays in the movie ' 'No holiday for idols. In 1966 he went to France where he also participated in television and radio. The same year, he received the trophy for Newcomer of the Year at the Gala des Artistes.

In 1967 he was chosen to interpret the theme song of the Expo,One day, one day,composed by Stéphane Venne. In the summer of that year, he obtained a new success withThe day of the last day,the French version of a hit Procol Harum,[[A Whiter Shade of Pale] ]. In the fall, the CBC sent him to represent Canada at the Song Festival in Sopot in Poland and the International Festival of Popular Song Rio de Janeiro. In Sopot, he won the third prize for her rendition ofThe Manic. In 1968, he also carries a French tour with Nana Mouskouri.

In 1969, definitively abandoned Donald Lautrec yé yé style with the release of songs likeEloise,'Hallelujah (The flowers of the sun)andHosanna. In 1969 in 1971, it leads to the CBC variety showHotDonald Lautrec.

In 1972, it became one of the first artists to collaborate with lyricist Luc Plamondon. Their partnership resulted in the recording of the albumFluffy,which contains only compositions Quebec. Claude Dubois helped create the album by offering Lautrec one of his compositions. Thewallbehind the barn, made by Plamondon, becomes one of the hits of 1972 in Quebec, but the sale of LP is somewhat disappointing.

The success of Lautrec became less obvious in subsequent years. His fans do not like the first hour her new rock style, and followers of the last music he prefer Robert Charlebois or Offenbach. He withdrew gradually from the entertainment world.

In 1980, it returns by participating in the showretrowith 3 L Michel Louvain and Peter Lalonde. He released a final album in 1981.

The same year he became host to81Lautrec, one of the first Quebec programs to submit video clips. He then returned to the charge with Lautrec's82, 83 and 85.

In 1985, Donald Lautrec became the owner of production house Riviera, which produces quiz Quebec, such asCharivari,ActionandreactionDouble Jeopardy. He then retired for twenty years and is returning to the song in November 2009 with a new album,foreverLautrec, as happy as it was unexpected.
