Discourse & Society is a bi-monthly peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes articles in the field of discourse analysis. The journal was established in 1990. It focuses on explicit theory formation and analysis of the relationships between the structures of text, talk, language use, verbal interaction or communication, on the one hand, and social, political or cultural micro- and macrostructures and cognitive social representations, on the other.

Abstracting and indexing

Discourse & Society is abstracted and indexed in Scopus, and the Social Sciences Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, its 2010 impact factor is 1.032, ranking it 41st out of 129 in Sociology, 63rd out of 120 in Psychology, Multidisciplinary; and 23rd out of 67 in Communication.
