Dibella's Old Fashioned Submarines shop is a restaurant chain based in Rochester, New York, United States. They have locations in Rochester, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio, which opened on May 4th, 2011, plus two locations in Michigan: Ann Arbor and Auburn Hills which opened on April 28th, 2011. They have also opened two restaurants in the Albany, New York region. One in Albany near the University of Albany, and one in Latham near the airport.
DiBella's was founded in 1918. It first began as a family owned and operated grocery store, and later operated as an Italian-style deli. Wegmans has incorporated DiBella's style sub shops into their stores, but they are not actual DiBella's restaurants.
The restaurants are based on a 1930's/40's theme.
They have been voted "Best Sub in Rochester" for 8 years in a row by the readers of the Democrat & Chronicle and City Newspaper, two local papers.
They claim that what makes DiBella's unique is that all ingredients are made fresh daily, and their bread making is based on old worlde techniques.
