Dhinodhar Hills

Dhinodhar Hills

Dinodhar Hills is located near Nani Aral village of Nakhatrana town in Kutch District, Gujrat in India. Dinodhar Hills is a must see site & #1 visited spot in Nakhatrana town vicinity.

Dinodhar Hill, an inactive volcano 386 meters high, has a temple dedicated to Dhoramnath at its peak. The history behind Dinodhar Hills & adjacent temples is very interesting. Dhoramnath is said to have stood on his head for 12 years as penance for a curse he made. The gods begged him to stop and he obliged on the condition that the first place he looked toward became barren – hence the Rann of Kachchh came to be. He then founded the exclusive monastic order, Kanfata (slit-ears).

Atop Dinodhar, you will see spectacular views of the Great Rann and Chhari Dhandh wetland, especially after a good rain. This area abounds with wildlife and flora making it the ideal location for trekking. At the bottom of Dinodhar is the inviting and serene 500-year-old Than Monastery also belonging to the Kanfata sector.
