Davis Ice Piedmont

Davis Ice Piedmont

Davis Ice Piedmont (70°38′S 166°16′E / 70.633°S 166.267°E / -70.633; 166.267) is an ice piedmont about 10 nautical miles (18 km) long and 4 nautical miles (7 km) wide, located along the north side of Missen Ridge on the north coast of Victoria Land. The name "Cape Davis," after John E. Davis, Second Master of the James C. Ross in 1841. Since no significant cape exists here, the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) and New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee (NZ-APC) have reapplied the name Davis to this ice piedmont.
