Club career

Cardiff City

Born in Hengoed, Caerphilly, Parslow started his career with the Cardiff City youth system, earning a three-year scholarship in May 2002.[2] He made an appearance for Cardiff in a 1–0 defeat to Bangor City in the FAW Premier Cup on 25 January 2005 and was promoted to the first team for the 2005–06 season.[3][4] He went on trial with Swansea City in March 2006.[5] However, after making no appearances he was released by Cardiff in May.[6][7]

York City

He was signed by Conference National team York City on 18 August following a successful trial.[8] He was offered a new contract by York at the end of the 2006–07 season,[9] which he signed in July.[10] York manager Colin Walker exercised his option for Parslow's contract to be extended for the 2008–09 season in April 2008.[11]

He signed a new contract with York on 22 September that contracted him to the club until June 2010.[12][13] He acted as captain while Mark Greaves and David McGurk were out of the team during 2009.[14] He was named as York's Clubman of the Year for the season, before their penultimate home game of the season against Eastbourne Borough.[15] He started in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium on 9 May 2009, which York lost 2–0 to Stevenage Borough.[16] He and McGurk were appointed as club captains for the 2009–10 season,[17] although Parslow would wear the armband throughout the season.[18] He signed a new contract with York on 19 January 2010 to tie him to the club until June 2012.[19][20] He appeared as a stoppage time substitute in York's play-off semi-final second leg victory over Luton Town, which finished 1–0, with the tie ending 2–0 on aggregate.[21]

Parslow made his first appearance of the 2010–11 season in the opening game, a 2–1 defeat to Kidderminster Harriers on 14 August.[22] His first goal of the season came after scoring the opening goal in a 4–0 victory over league leaders AFC Wimbledon on 1 February 2011.[23] Following the end of the season, during which he made 47 appearances and scored one goal, he was named York's Clubman of the Year for a second time.[24][25]

International career

Parslow was capped by Wales at under-17 and under-19 level, gaining one and three caps respectively.[26] He represented the Welsh under-21 team and made his debut in a 0–0 draw with Latvia in August 2004.[27] He was part of the team that lost 2–0 against the English under-21s on 8 October at Blackburn Rovers' Ewood Park.[28][29] Parslow was capped four times by Wales at under-21 level.[30] He was named in the Wales Semi-Pro team for the Four Nations Tournament on 4 May 2007.[31] He captained the team during their 2–1 defeat to England C in February 2008.[32]
