The Commemorative Cross of the Volunteers of 1830 is an early decoration of Belgium. It was created on 20 April 1878 to reward those who volunteered during the 1830 Belgian Revolution. It is currently no longer awarded.

The Commemorative Cross of the Volunteers of 1830 was awarded in one single class.

Insignia

The badge of the Commemorative Cross of the Volunteers of 1830 is inspired by that of the Belgian Civic Cross and is a white enameled maltese cross with the central medallion enamelled in black and bearing in obverse the Belgian royal lion and in the reverse the date '1830'. Between the arms of the Cross is a Burgundy Cross. The metal of the Cross is gold, and the cross is topped with pivoting a royal crown.

The ribbon of the Cross is black with vertical yellow and red stripes on each edge (yellow towards the center).

Award Conditions

The Cross was awarded to those who volunteered during the War of Independence of Belgium during the period between 25 August 1830 to 4 February 1831, provided they had not already been awarded the Iron Cross, and could provide evidence of their participation.
