He along with Chu ho-young and Park Hyung-jun are close associates of President Lee Myung-bak but he has later become critical against him and the leadership of Grand National Party after Lee Myung-bak's presidential election.[1] On August 26, 2011, he mentioned Lee Myung-bak's fair society governance as a failure based on the year 2010 prime minister-led surveillance against civilians.[2]
