Chuck Wagon (musician)

Chuck Wagon (musician)

Robert "Bob" Davis (August 11, 1956 - June 28, 1981), known by his stage name Chuck Wagon, was an American musician and original member of Los Angeles punk rock band The Dickies, with whom he released two albums. He also released a solo 7" single called "Rock n' Roll won't go away".[1]

Chuck joined the Dickies shortly after their formation in 1977, and served as the band's multi-instrumentalist, playing mostly keyboards and rhythm guitar, but also the saxophone and harmonica as well as doing backing vocals. On his last studio works with the band, which were released on Stukas Over Disneyland after his death, he also played drums. By early 1981, he had become dissatisfied with the band and quit, but was persuaded to return for a couple more live shows.

Chuck fell into depression after breaking up with his girlfriend.[citation needed] After a Dickies show in Topaga Canyon on the evening of June 27, 1981, he returned home and shot himself in the head with a .22 rifle at his parents San Fernando Valley home.[2][3] He died in a hospital the following morning.[2]
