Christ Church Girls' School is one of two all-girls primary schools in Barbados. It is located in Water Street, Christ Church. It has over thirty teachers and over 600 students.[1]

Contents

History

The school started as Kingsland Girls' School, which opened in 1898 on the Kingsland Estate. In 1921 it moved to its present location and in 1926 it was amalgamated with Providence Girls' School and renamed Christ Church Girls' School.[2]

Mission and vision

The mission of the school is to:[1]

"Provide quality education for its clients in a safe and an interactive learning environment which is conducive to the promotion of excellence and where problem-solving and innovation is encouraged. Where each student is given the opportunity to develop her potential to the fullest and to acquire the skills, values and attitudes necessary to function effectively in the global village and where one is motivated to pursue life-long self directed learning.

The vision is that it be recognized as a school that provides an atmosphere that promotes a quest for life learning and excellence in every facet among its pupils and staff.[1]

Principals

Past principals include Miss Hewitt and Miss Eugenia Carter-Hinds, Mrs. Amerel Haynes, Miss Adele Smith, Mrs. Glenis Nurse and Mrs. Coral Padmore.[1]
