Chodavaram— village — Coordinates 16°51′07″N 82°03′24″E / 16.85194°N 82.05667°ECoordinates: 16°51′07″N 82°03′24″E / 16.85194°N 82.05667°E Country India State Andhra Pradesh District(s) East Godavari Population 5,000[1] (2010[update]) Time zone IST (UTC+05:30) Chodavaram (Telugu: చోడవరం) is a small village in Ramachandrapuram Mandal, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India which is nearly 3 km away from Mandal Headquarters Ramachandrapuram and 25 km away from District Headquarters Kakinada. The population was5,000 at the 2010 Indian census.[1]
The Village is filled with green paddy lands. Agriculture is the main occupation of people who live here.
Goddess paggelamma thali is the deity of the village. The village people will offer prayers and perform jatara once a year to the goodess who protects the village from evil forces and give happiness and prosperity to the people who stay in the village.
Mr. raju is the current Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) Member from the village who takes over the problems of the village with the help of President, Vice-President and Board Members of the village to the upper concern. TThere is in Visnalayam (Lard Vishnu temple), which is said to be constructed by Chola Dynasty - of 8th century
Chodavam are the camp sites, revenue administrative centers of Chola dynasty. In variably they are accompanied with an Agraharam (Colony of Pandiths – Brahamins) and Devanarthaki’s colony (Also called bhogamella colony).
Prem Institute of Career Education Learning Centre is there at Chodavaram.
