Chhatapur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: छातापुर विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Supaul district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is an open seat from 2010 but earlier was reserved for scheduled castes.

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 45 Chhatapur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Chhatapur and Basantpur community development blocks.[1]

Chhatapur (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 8 Supaul (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

Results

1977-2010

In the 2010 state assembly elections, Neeraj Kumar Singh of JD(U) won the Chhatapur assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Akeel Ahmad of RJD. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Viswa Mohan Bharti of JD(U) defeated Mahendra Narayan Sardar of RJD in October 2005. Mahendra Narayan Sardar of RJD defeated Viswa Mohan Bharti of JD(U) in February 2005. Gita Devi of RJD defeated Viswa Mohan Bharti of JD(U) in 2000. Viswa Mohan Bharti of JD defeated Mahendra Narayan Sardar of Congress in 1995. Yogendra Narayan Sardar of JD defeated Kumbh Narayan Sardar of Congress in 1990. Kumbh Narayan Sardar of Congress defeated Mahendra Narayan Sardar of LD in 1985 and Sitaram Paswan of Janata Party (Secular – Charan Singh) in 1980. Sitaram Paswan of JP defeated Kumbh Narayan Sardar of Congress in 1977.[2][3][4]
