February 19 ,1954 ) is a Germanbassist best known as a member ofScorpions .Already at the age of eleven he listened to rock music. His first appearance as a bass player in a high school rock band took place at the age of 15. From then on he played in different rock, blues and jazz bands in his hometown. While he was studying machine engineering at Hannover University and visiting jazz classes at Hannover's Music Academy (Musikhochschule), Francis Buchholz' band Dawn Road joined forces with the rock band Scorpions in 1973.
In 1978 he founded Rocksound, which became one of the most important PA & stage-lighting companies in Germany in the eighties and nineties.
As the Scorpions' bass player he gained world wide success in the USA, Canada, Japan, Brasil, Mexico, throughout the whole of Europe and other countries. The Scorpions were selling out major halls and stadiums in the 1980s. Francis Buchholz was awarded with more than 50 gold and platinum record sales awards for best selling albums in many countries. He was also awarded with the German ECHO-Award, the World-Music-Award and others.
In 1992 Francis Buchholz left the Scorpions. He wrote a book "Bass Magic", worked as an artist consultant and music-producer.
A comeback for Francis to the concert circuit was an extended tour with Uli Jon Roth, the former Dawn Road and Scorpions' guitarist, through Europe and USA in 2005 - 2006.
In 2008 he recorded with the band "Dreamtide" the album "Dream And Deliver".
