Razakah v. Bush

Razakah v. Bush(Civil Action No. 05-cv-2370)is a writ of habeas corpus filed on behalf of several Guantanamo captives including two Uyghur captives in Guantanamo, Abdul Razakah and Ahmad Tourson.

On June 10 2006 the Department of Defense reported that three captives died in custody.The Department of Defense stated the three men committed suicide.Camp authorities called the deaths "an act of assymetric warfare", and suspected plans had been coordinated by the captive's attorneys -- so they seized all the captives' documents, including the captives' copies of their habeas documents.cite web

Military Commissions Act

Boumediene v. Bush

On June 12 2008 the United States Supreme Court ruled, in Boumediene v. Bush, that the Military Commissions Act could not remove the right for Guantanamo captives to access the US Federal Court system. And all previous Guantanamo captives' habeas petitions were eligible to be re-instated.

On July 9 2008 US District Court Judge Thomas F. Hogan consolidated the cases of the Uyghur captives in 05-1509, 05-1602, 05-1704, 05=2370, 05-2386, 05-2398.cite web

Originally, in July 2008, all the other Uyghur habeas petitions were to be merged, except for Razakah v. Bush, which was to remain solely before US District Court Judge Thomas Sullivan. But by September 2008, Razakah v. Bush was also to be merged with the other Uyghur petitions.
