Wedge Island is a privately owned island, with an area of 18 km2, in south-eastern Australia. It lies between the southern tips of the Eyre and Yorke Peninsulas in South Australia at the entrance to Spencer Gulf. There is a lighthouse at the south-east end, and highest point, of the island. There is an airstrip on the island as well as a jetty.

Wedge Island is not permanently inhabited, but has buildings used for holiday accommodation and as a base for local and offshore recreational fishing. It is also a dive site. The endangered Brush-tailed Bettong has been introduced to the island. [Kennedy, Michael. (1992). "Australasian Marsupials and Monotremes: An Action Plan for Their Conservation". IUCN. History

Wedge Island was originally settled in the mid-1800s as a farm for breeding horses for the British Indian Army. The lighthouse was first lit on 29 March 1911 and rebuilt in 1970. [http://www.seasidelights.com.au/au/sa/wedge.asp?fState=SA SeaSide Lights: Wedge Island] ]
