Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pengiran Omar or SMKPO is a secondary school located in the town of Sipitang, in the Interior Division of the state of Sabah, Malaysia. History of the school

The school was a British school before Sabah's Independence. Then a few year after independence was achieve, the school's name was convert to the name to Sekolah Menengah Sipitang which then was changed to Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Omar to commemorate Pengiran Omar bin Syaifuddin for contribute to the local economy. The school was nominated to be a smart school in 1999.The 'Kebangsaan' in the name is a title for every secondary smart school or primary school which it means national. Many of the students usually great success and go to university such as UMS(Universiti Malaysia Sabah).

Academic and Co-curricular Achievements

The has also been awarded for the students stunning achievement in the town.The school lately also was nominated to inquire two program from the Ministry of Education for F1 in school and for robot building. These two program are usually for urban students. The also have broken the Malaysian record for the longest (thank you) card.
