Redlake Cottage Meadows

Redlake Cottage Meadows

This Cornwall Wildlife Trust nature reserve is situated near Lostwithiel in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

The rare heath lobelia can be found here. In late summer, its loose- headed purple-blue flowers emerge from dark green oval leaves that narrow up the stem.

The Marsh Fritillary butterfly was first sighted at Redlake Cottage Meadows in 1995. This internationally important species requires specific habitat management for its survival. After receiving a grant from the Hanson Environment Fund (a package of funding available to all county Wildlife Trusts, negotiated by the Trusts' National Office), Cornwall Wildlife Trust have been able to carry out scrub control and fencing to protect it.
